The biggest risk to your business isn’t the competition, the economy, or any external factor…
It’s the danger of waking up one day and realizing you don’t want to do it anymore.
When thinking about the thread that holds Grow Pro Agency together, it’s not just the systems, the marketing, and the sales…
It’s the JOY.
So while this might sound a little different, I am here to tell you that the biggest risk is losing the FUN in what we do.
This is not just for school owners but for our team members as well.
So, how do you ensure this doesn’t happen?
You have to make FUN a PRIORITY.
When you do so, you bring out each other’s passion, create close connections with the team, and
give them the will to break through difficult times.
You know that your students quit when it’s no longer fun.
Same thing with your Team Members.
So, how can you make fun a priority?
Innovate Your Trainings:
Embrace innovation in training pulses, ensuring continual evolution and enrichment of skill sets among both students and team members.
This is both for your students on the mat and for your team to level up their skills.
In an environment conducive to learning and growth, you enhance performance and cultivate a culture of dynamism and vitality.
We are all happiest when we are progressing.
So you have to ask yourself: how am I helping my team members progress?
Celebrate Everything:
Take time to acknowledge and commemorate wins—both big and small deserve a high five, a pat on the back, a verbal acknowledgment, etc.
Whether it’s a successful project, a significant client acquisition, or a milestone anniversary, these moments warrant recognition.
Having a culture of celebration boosts morale and reinforces a collective sense of accomplishment and pride.
One way we do this is by having a “Wheel Of Wow” winner every week.
This winner spins a wheel in our All Hands on Deck meeting to win a prize.
Prizes include a free lunch, a $20 bill, movie tickets, and more!
Create Traditions:
You have traditions for your students in your schools, but what about for your team?
Traditions serve as touchstones, whether it’s a monthly team-building activity, personalized recognition for work anniversaries, or communal birthday celebrations – this is something you should consider implementing.
Doing so gives individuals a shared sense of purpose and identity.
What We Do:
Casino Night
The first example of us “prioritizing fun” is having Casino Night, which is hosted at the office.
This is a two-hour event with food and drinks and three Games: Black Jack, Roulette, and Texas Hold Em.
Whoever had the most chips at the end of 2 hours wins a $150 Gift Card to Flamestone.
This event cost us around $400 ($150 for the games—which was an investment because we can use it in the future, $150 for the Gift Card, and $100 for the food).
It is a much more cost-effective than taking a huge group out somewhere, and it was an absolute blast!
Team Outings
The second example is our team outings, which happen bi-monthly.
These outings include TopGolf, bowling, Yacht dinner, Ray’s Baseball game, etc.
We alternate having significant others be invited to the events – which makes it a family affair.
Recap:
Fun shouldn’t just be a bonus for working at your business – it should be a must.
It’s the secret ingredient to a successful, enduring business.
Your action step is to audit the different areas in your business where you can prioritize FUN.
And in doing so, you’ll have happier, longer staying team members.
